The junior of the band was born
in 1926, and the others average 80 years : if we write that, it is not to make them
contribute in an unspecified book of records. It is for saying that the musicians of Vieja Trova Santiaguera crossed one century of music of Oriente de Cuba, and that they know their business at one's
finger-tips. With Compay Segundo - which was a musical fellow traveller of Reynaldo Hierrezuelo, one of the members of the group -, they are agents of the golden area of the son, whose they embodied the spirit as natural Masters. By good luck, the current passion of France for the old son brought them on some French scenes, giving us the rare opportunity to taste the traditions by those which forged them. When you see them on the play-bill, hurry up, and do not miss them. Even if they keep a vitality to be envied by the Rolling Stones, they are not exactly urchins, and someday, only their discs will remain. Unless than carried by the son, they all survive us : seeing them in concert, one believes them able. The original band was formed in 1994 by Amado Machado (born in 1912) ; Aristóteles Limonta (born in 1913) ; Pancho Coba (born in 1913 ); Reynaldo Greagh (born in 1918) ; Reynaldo Hierrezuelo (born in 1926). Amado Machado died in 1998. |
