Les photos ci-dessous illustrent une plante acquise, sous le nom de Brassia wageneri, de la firme Orchidexpert, le 8 novembre 1997.

Après avoir vu ces photos, Norris H. Williams (Dept. of Natural History, Florida Museum of Natural History, University of Florida) écrivait, dans un courriel, le 28 mai 2003 : "The photos you posted are some of the best examples of Brassia caudata I have seen."

Pour sa part, Jerry Suffolk (Central Vancouver Island Orchid Society) écrivait, dans un autre courriel, le 28 mai 2003 :

"The plant in your photographs is the Caribbean form of Caudata. The South American forms tend to have less spotting. It is not
Arcuigera as the photo of the plant shows that it has 2 leaves on the top of the pseudobulbs. Arcuigera ALWAYS has 1 leaf and this is one of the distinguishing points when not in flower. If you look at the lip you will see that in front of the callus [the back part of the lip] there are 2 large teeth tilting outwards. Were as Arciugera only has 2 rounded lumps that are joined together. The next point is that the petals on your plant are small and curve together as the arcuigera has longer petals. Your plant has a lip that is more square as the arcuigera tends to be tapered. Your plant looks to be very well grown judging by the # of spikes.

Jerry in Canada where it is Brassia flowering time!!"
