AVRO LANCASTER NX611, as she can be seen at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, located at East Kirkby, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. The plane has been painted in the markings of a 57 Squadron on the right side, while the left side has the code letters of a 630 Squadron Lancaster.
The Lanc, although seldom flown after she was brought back to England, was kept airworthy until 1970. She was then put on outdoors display for several years, suffering from the weather. Since she has been acquired by the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, the condition of the plane has improved dramatically, and NX611 is now able to taxy on her own, with the sweet music of her four Merlin engines. She does it several times each year since 1995, to the delights of the museum's visitors!
Many thanks to Fred and Harold Panton to have allowed us access several
times to the closest preserved former french Lancaster. It is a great help
for our restoration.
