BIOGRAPHY

July 13, 2001. Massilia's burning!!! 5 bands of the town are burning the floor of the Knitting Factory club. At the end of this evening washed down with plenty of alcohol, 4 guys keep on swinging on Johnny Thunders, Devil Dogs, Saints, Boys, Barracudas, Dogs, Clash, Damned, New York Dolls, Ramones and the other Dead Boys roared by a failing sound system. Before deciding in an ultimate moment on lucidity to base a glam punk rock and roll band !! Yeah, a band where everybody would swagger !! PRESS

The NEUROTIC SWINGERS are impressive, they know how to write a hook. They sound like the HIVES hanging out with the BRIEFS flipping through old issues of Cream and Sniffin' Glue. - Maximum Rock & Roll, Interview in April issue (USA)

Wow. Wow! Wow!!!! Holy hell, what's up with all these GREAT fucking French punk bands? The latest from the Neurotic Swingers is tearing up my stereo and reaffirming my belief in that thing called rock n' roll. Good lord, I'm impressed! How do you say "awesome" in French? Really. 100 % killer punk rock. Artrats just brings the rock, and it does so with all the refined subtlety of a swift kick in the head. Bravo! - Now Wave (USA), Artrats in the Top Ten 2003

Tremendous ! The NEUROTIC SWINGERS are some kinda sensational, could they be french ? Has a STITCHES feel with more booming butt-rock guitar sound, and the ONLY ONES sensibilities with more agression...- Maximum Rock & Roll #227

Nice 'n' dirty rock and roll punk rock fuelled on a diet of JD and Camel cigarettes I'm sure. So many bands attempt this style and fail miserably. Songwriting, musicianship and attitude....these guys have the complete package and more. The songs are catchy, there's some superb lead guitar work and it sounds great on every level. They don't really sound like the New Bomb Turks circa "Destroy ! Oh boy" but they have that attitude, maybe with a little NYC 77 style in there too. As I said, there's a lot of bands, world over, who are playing this style, not many as well as these french dogs - Fracture UK #22 Setp 02

French punk rockers? Is that an oxymoron? Well, what's your definition of French punk rockers I say? Semantics aside, these four lads from the land of vino have tossed together eight tunes that'll toss you into the way-back time machine and keep you there, in true punk fashion, for just under 19 minutes. Do the math if you want, but songs are short and to the point. Yeah, bands like the Clash and the Damned and the Dead Boys were around long before, but it's nice to hear the brusqueness, the youthful urgency, the crashing craziness that this style of punk brings to the party. For those infatuated with that Orange County sound, this may be a shock, but this is what punk is, so let it rip, give a smile, and relax. The title track is my pick for the song I'd replay the most, sounding more along the lines of the Buzzcocks or the NY Dolls, and again, I'd rather give this a spin than take my chances with the radio. Merci, Swingers. - Top 2002 New York Rock

The biggest trump of the band is frontman, who has a really good and exceptional voice for this kind of music. A superband.- Oor, Netherlands

This is my top record of the year!!! This is shit hot right down to the cover art and everything. It's just straight fucking punk rock, not fucking streetpunk, not fucking hardcore punk, not fucking anything but Punk. It's fucking fantastic. Forget about November and December...ain't nothing gonna come along better than this. This album should be a necessary Christmas gift - NFT, UK

So the month before last The Powers That Be "accidentaly" lost my reviews and out of all the crap I reviewed, this was the only thing that matters enough for me to absolutely, positively mention. It needs to be reviewed. You, the rock and roll afficionado, need to know about this god-dawn record. It's fucking great, is what it is. I haven't been able to turn this off. Any day of the week, you can peek into my window and see me jumping up and down on the cough and spazzing around the living room while this blasts out through my setreo. It's that goddawn ggod. these Frenchies seriously know what's what. Imagine, if you will, the BRIEFS and HIVES hanging out drinking beer, eating Pizza, and flipping through old issues of sniffin' Glue and Creem Magazine, the suddenly they decided to make a record as a super group. That super group would sound like these guys, only not as good. So why don't you put that in your pipe and smoke it, Mr Man ? Just get this fucking record, so I can shup up already - Maximum Rock & Roll, Artrats in the Bobby Manic Top Ten 2003

A revved-up poppy, yet melodic punk platter that comes out on top. Great and catchy shit that sticks in your craw and gets your head bobbin' HARD - Horizontal Action Neurotic Swingers manage to kick out some serious garage noise on this eight-tracker, released in both their home country and Japan. I'd never heard of these would-be Dead Boys before, but the first spin had me reaching for the repeat button. A four-piece claiming roots in the '77 punk scene, the Neurotic Swingers are hard-edged garage punk that rides the back of a swinging engine room, a Gallic drawl and dirty guitars."Gimme the Keys" gives more than a passing nod to the Litter's "Action Woman" while the guitar action on "Burn the Floor" will please anyone with half an ear...- I 94 Bar (Australie)

- Flying RevolverBlatt

These froggies are getting a lot of buzz at the moment, some compared'em to The Hives and The Briefs. The Swingers deliver some very catchy and snotty classic '77 punkrock songs with some solid rock'n'roll hooks. I completely surrendered to their irrisistable tunes which have a thick but charming French accent on the vocals. This is highly addictive stuff; full-on youthful and cheerful punkrawk with a wonderful raw edge, kinda like Japanese punk meets The Ramones. - Low Cut

Four stylish puddlejumpers clock in with a speedy dose of p.rock that reminds me of the TV Killers in their slower moments-they're raging and raw-boned, but never break over a all comfortable stomp. "Dead Langague", "Burn the Floor" and "Speed Drinker" all ewhibit that devil-may-care- attitude that I can't help but admire. Neat neat neat. - Maximum Rock & Roll

I know that this new wave-influenced punk sound has grown extremely tired as of late (if you ask me, though, that's mostly because of bands like the Soviettes and the Girls leaning too far toward the cutesy New Wave end of the equation), but the Neurotic Swingers make this dish palatable again with the secret ingredient to any great punk rock record: a big, hearty sprinkling of FUCK YOU!" - Deep Fry Bonanza

Very few bands are able to meld the fury of punk rock n' roll with keen pop sensibility and maintain any sense of credibility. The Neurotic Swingers are one of those special bands who manage to pull this off. This is very authentic feeling and worthy punked rock n' roll, yet the hooks are so huge and entrancing it seems a travesty these songs aren't littered over every radio station in the world. From those the most staunchly underground to the greenest of mall punkers, there's a fortune to be found in this disc. - Hellride

These guys are French, but don't hold that against them. The guitars on this album are pure Bollocks-era Steve Jones. The singer's got a great, crunchy voice that Julian Casablancas would give up drinking to have. The first song, "Dead Language," is so full of punk rock clichés you'll want to hate it, but it's so fucking catchy you won't be able to. - Glorious Noise Oct 2002

French motherfuckers rock the house a la Teenage Head! Considering their wild, primitive, fun-spirited take on the classic sounds of The Saints, Heartbreakers, Dead Boys, and Teenage Head, one could say that Neurotic Swingers are typical of most contemporary "European punk rock n' roll" bands. You know: skinny ties, cool shades, bad attitudes, and snarling broken-English vocals! You're bound to enjoy their dirty noise if you're a fan of the bands mentioned above. Loud, catchy, and rawer than a masturbating teen's cock after his sixth orgasm of the day, the NS aural attack is primitive, powerful, and a hell of a lot of fun. This latest disc of theirs is a short & sweet display of sweaty, hard-hitting rock n' roll that oozes the spirit of back alley punk and lacks even a hint of pretension. All in all, a darn good CD! What else needs to be said? - Now Wave

"Artrats" is chocked full of by the numbers punk rock songs but the intensity that these guys put in the delivery take the songs to a whole new level. "Girl In A Broken Car" rocks with a vengence as does "Go Back Home". Sex Pistols, Clash, Ramones as well as Vines, Hives and White Stripes fans should dig this ten song old school punk rock workout. "We accept you! One of us!" "Gabba, Gabba, Hey!" - Ear Candy (USA)
