Achievements in 2003-2005

Courses of foreign languages

We are actually giving one English course for beginners and another one in French in collaboration with the Romanian Church "Bunavestire".

Talks for and with aged people

We continue to organize every Thursday, at the Romanian House, talks with and for all Romanian aged people. Subjects can vary according to the wish of our guests.

The meetings with people of gold age are well functioning and we are hoping the number of participants will increase.

MSQR participated at the organization of two prestigious events:

  • the exhibition Monumenta Rumaniae Vaticana and
  • La Journée internationale de la Prière.

Members of our executive committe have strongly involved themselves in the organization of

  • the photographic exhibition Un centenaire de présence roumaine à Montréal that took place on the occasion of 2000 ARA Congress and in the file of
  • the Place de la Roumanie

Changes in our Board of Directors

Dr Sorin Sonea, professor emeritus retired after 10 years of presidence. The new board is composed from:

  • Mrs Monica Matte, Ph. D. (Law), ex-member of the Commission for the PersonRights, Co-President;
  • M. Radu Zmeureanu, eng., Ph. D., professor at Concordia University, Co-President;
  • M. Adrian Savopol, secretary;
  • M. Georges Lotreanu, businessman, cashier
  

Strategic Objectives for 2006:

  • a larger aperture towards the whole Romanian community from Montreal;
  • a larger aperture towards Quebequer community, particularly the francophone one;
  • a closer collaboration with similar organisms or having similar objectives to ours
  • a stronger presence in the life of Montrealese community

Our Projects for 2006 are:

  • continue to give languages courses;
  • continue to organize monthly meetings of information for new comers;
  • improve the quality of the information given to new immigrants;
  • develop talkings for and with aged people;
  • collect a list with persons-resource willing to help us and participate at our different activities;
  • introduce a forum in our website and make it more dynamic;
  • increase the number of our members;
  • organize fundraising activities.

Annual General Assembly

We will discuss the Annual Report of the President, will adopt the financial budgets and renew one third of our Committee. We'd like to receive the comments from our co-nationals' behalf.

The annual general Assembly of MSQR will take place soon.
