At an early age, it was very clear that Ricky yearned to be a star so, he begged is parents to help him. his mom and dad instelled in him a strong sense of ambition, as well as the drive to go after what he wanted without hurting anyone. Ricky was convinced, and decided to follow is dream, never letting anyone talk him out if it. seeing that Ricky was serious abouit becoming a star, his father started taking him to auditions when he has only six years old. By the time he has 11, he had already appearel in 11 TV commercials. Ricky want to becoming a member of Menudo group, becoming a member was not easy at all, and he had to audition 3 times, before he was finally accepted. Finally, Ricky joined Menudo-madness on July 10, 1974, he has only 12. By the time he joined them, Menudo had already been together for five extremely successful years, everywhere they went, adoring, screaming, teenage fans followed ! After leaving Menudo, in 1989, Ricky decided to take a break and finishes his studies, sometg he didn't have a chance to do while touring with the group. Ricky wanted to finish studing but, also decide what he wanted to do with the rest of her life. he opted to get away and move to New-York, where he rented an apartment in Queens.In 1990, Ricky decided to listen the advice of his Mexican buddies an shoot for a career as a solo artist in Mexico. Ricky had the opportunity to costar with the famous Mexican star Angelica Maria, and her daughter, Angelica Vale, in the play Mama Ama el Rock (Mom loves Rock) . the same year he was in the teen flavored telenova (soap opera) Alcanzar Una Estrella II . Ricky's performance in the movie version of Alcanzar Una Estrella won him a Heraldo Award (Mexican's Academy Awards). 1991 was a turning point for Ricky, his first solo album was released, titled simply Ricky Martin. The album was an instant success and securing Ricky's star status in Latin America. In 1993, it was the time to record the second album, titled Me Amaras , with this album Ricky obtained a platinium disc. After that, ricky decided to move to Los Angeles with on goal in mind : to conquer the American Market. Ricky decided to try his luck as an actor in the US, he got an ofter to guest star in two episodes of the NBC series Gettig By. As result, more offers for acting jobs started pouring in. In February 1994, he signed a one year contract with ABC to play Miguel Morez in general Hospital. When he was offered the role of Marius in the musical version of "Les Miserables" on Broadway, Ricky packed his bags and moved to New-York. In 1995, Ricky release third solo album A Medio Vivir, this album were more profound, and reflect Ricky's evolution and artistic maturity. the album sold more than six hundred thousand copies in six months, and was awarded a Gold record on October 1997. In the summer of 1997 Disney's new animated film Hercules hit cinema, in the spanish version of the film Ricky is the voice of Hercule and in the video he sang of the film end credit song "No Importa La Distancia" (go to the distance). In 1998, Ricky was chosen to sing the official song of the World Cup Soccer in France : La Copa De La Vida, issued from the fourth album Vuelve. In 1999, Ricky released his first English album "ricky Martin" (of the same name than the first one). The album entered the bilboard charts at number one, and sold a staggering 661,000 copies in its first week of release. In November 2000 Ricky recorded is last album "Sound Loaded", the fist single issued of this album is a small miracle of sensuality. Congrats Ricky !!!!
