Roland SERVICE INFORMATION NO 100219-1 JP-6 SUBJECT PROGRAM CHANGE OF PROM 2732A-A To comply with newest MIDI standard (ver. 1) we have made, a program change of PROM 2732A-A IC-26 (15179620) on the CPU BOARD. And the PROM with newest program (ver. 4) has been used from the serial number 374400. NOTE-1 The program of this PROM 2732A-A has been changed three times since JP-6 was introduced, and a relation of the program version and the version of MIDI standard is as follows. Program ver. 1 : Preliminaly MIDI : From S/No.250100 - 280799 Program ver. 2 : Preliminaly MIDI : From S/No.280800 - 343799 Program ver. 3 : MIDI ver. 1 : From S/No.353800 - 364399 Program ver. 4 : MIDI ver. 1 : From S/No. 374400 and up NOTE-2 PROM ver. 4 can be substitutive for version 1, 2 and 3 but its reverse is not possible. In case of replacing PROM ver. 1 used in JP-6 with serial numbers 250100 - 260449 with new one (ver. 4), it is necessary for you to make a modification (shown in the service information No.100217) to JP-6 after the replacement. Because there is a difference between old BENDER BOARD and now one on JP-6, and also a program of PROM related to the circuit has already been completely removed from the PROM with ver. 2. NOTE-3 The reason why this program change had to be made is as follows. a) To prevent a future trouble from happenning between JP-6 and other new models including other manufactures, we have taken a special equipement (which equips with the plural voice modules and is operated on MONO mode) into consideration. b) It is the best way for JP-6 to have PROM (MIDI function) complied with the MIDI standard ver. 1 to lead out to other manufacture ones. In other words, this means that JP-6 will never have a future trouble between new models if they would have been completely designed in accordance with the MIDI standard ver. l.
