Sher Bahadur Deuba - Prime Minister

Born : in June 1946 in Dadheldhura district.

Education : Master degree in humanities in 972 from Tribhuwan University and he was research of economies from 1988 -1990.

Party : NCP (Nepali Congress Party)

Political career : At the age of 19 year Mr. Deuba began his political carrier and he had served 9 years in Jail because of political ideology. Deuba was the founder member of Nepal student union, Sister organization of Nepali Congress in 1970 and he was President of far-western student Committee Kathmandu at 1965-68. Served as coordinator of political Advisory Committee of Nepali Congress in 1982-1986. During the peoples movement in 1990 he desribed necessity of democracy in Nepal in western democratic countries and collected Pressure on restoration of democracy in Nepal. served as home minister in first elected cabinet lead by Girija Prasad Koirala after restoration of democracy. After midterm general election of 2051 BS Mr. Deuba elected leader of parliamentary Party of Nepal congress and appointed as the Primeminister in 2052 Bhadra. then he served 18 months as Prime minister of NC-RPP collusion government.

Mahesh Acharya - Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives

Party : NCP (Nepali Congress Party)

Political career : Politician, economist from Biratnagar. Member of Nepali Congress. Began career as a member of Nepal Student's Union in 1970. Jailed for 18 months during Panchayat system. Member of the Upper House representing Nepali Congress since 1991. Minister of State of Finance (1991-94). Known as expert on B. P. KOIRALA's socialist economy. Reformed Nepalese economy introducing liberalization, free market mechanism, tax reforms and privatization of several public enterprises. Elected member to the House of Representatives from Morang-5 (1999). Minister for Finance since 1999 in the Council of Ministers headed by Krishna Prasad Bhattarai.

Dr.Ram Sharan Mahat - Minister of Finance

Born : 1951

Party : NCP (Nepali Congress Party)

Political career : Politician, economist from Nuwakot district. Member of Nepali Congress Party. Worked for UNDP New York (1988-89) and UNDP Resident Representative for Afghanistan based in Pakistan (1989-91 Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission (1991-94). Elected Member to the House of Representatives from Nuwakot district (1994). Served as Finance Minister (1995-96, 1998). Advocate of free market economy.

Khum Bahadur Kahdka - Minister of Home and Local Development

Born : 1951

Party : NCP (Nepali Congress Party)

Political career : Central Member of Nepali Congress Party (1988-1992). Jailed for 8 years during Panchayat Era. Elected Member of Parliament from Dang-3 (1991, 1994, 1999). Minister of Works and Transport (1991-94), Minister for Home in the cabinet headed by Sher Bahadur Deuba in 1996 and Minister for Supplies in the cabinet headed by Girija Prasad Koirala in 1998. Minister for Housing and Physical Planning; and Local Development since 1999 under Prime Minister Krishna Prashad Bhattarai.

Chiranjibi Wagle - Minister of Physical Planning and Works

Born : 1946

Party : NCP (Nepali Congress Party)

Political career : Politician from Gorkha district. Central Committee Member of Nepali Congress (1988-1991). Founding Coordinator of Nepal Student Union (1970), Gorkha District President of Nepali Congress (1977-1988). Jailed for six years during Panchayat regime on political charges. Elected Member of Parliament from Gorkha-1 (1991, 1994, 1999). Served as Minister of Supplies (1991).Minister for Land Reforms and Management; and Commerce since 1999. He is also a member of Nepali Congress Central Working Committee. He also served as Minister Information and Communication in the cabinet headed by Sher Bahadur Deuba in 1996, and Minister for Commerce and Land Reforms and Management in the Cabinet led by Girija Prasad Koirala. Wagle stood to the post of Nepali Congress President (1995) and lost to Girija Prasad Koirala.

Bal Bahadur KC - Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation

Born : 1953

Party : NCP (Nepali Congress Party)

Political career : K.C is the member of House of Representatives from Solukhumbu district. He was member of Nepali Congress Central Working Committee. He also served as Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture in the cabinet headed by Sher Bahadur Deuba in 1996.

Amod Prasad Upadhyaya - Minister of Education and Sports

Born : 1928

Party : NCP (Nepali Congress Party)

Political career : Politician from Lalitpur born in Assam, India. Member of Nepali Congress Party. Served as a Secretary of HMG (until 1960). Minister of Home and Communication in the interim government (1990-1991). Exiled for 8 years in 1960. Amnesty granted in 1968. Assistant Secretary General of NCP until 1991. Ambassador to the United States of America (1991-1993). Minister of Education (1999- ) under Krishna Prasad Bhattarai.

Gopal Man Shrestha - Minister of Forest and Soil Conservation

Born : 1947

Party : NCP (Nepali Congress Party)

Political career : Politician from Syangja district. Member of Nepali Congress. Served as Syangja district president of Nepali Congress (1987-1989). Jailed for several terms for political activities opposing Panchayat. Elected MP from Syangja-1 (1991). Minister of Commerce (1991).
