Pairings: Yohji x Aya

Inner Trinity (2/?)

By Max Ikari

"Aya, what's wrong?" asked Yohji concerned. But it quickly faded to

surprise when he heard Aya speak, he sounded like a five year old! He

was crying and said, " Aya is mad at me, he said my mama and papa are

dead!" and with that Aya started to cry like a little child.

Yohji just stood there transfixed and wondering what kind of sick

joke

was Aya playing on him. " Aya what the hell are you doing?" asked

Yohji irritated, " If this is your idea of a joke is a really fucked

up joke, ----Aya?" But Aya hadn't moved, he was curled up in a ball

trying to get as small as possible. His crying had reduced to

sniffles and when Yohji mentioned Aya's name he seemed like he was

going to cry again.

" Aya is mad at me," said Aya in a quiet voice. Not knowing what the

hell was going on, Yohji crouched in front of Aya and asked, " Why is

Aya mad at you?"

" Because I asked him were mama and papa were" said Aya, " I am

sorry,

I didn't mean to make him mad." and with that he started to cry again.

" Okay, okay," said Yohji scratching his head furiously. He stood up

and paced the room wondering what was going on. He had no idea what

to do. Aya was acting like a child, but something bothered him. Why

would Aya say he was mad at himself? It didn't make any sense.

"Who are you?" asked Aya all of a sudden.

" What?!" asked Yohji surprised. Nothing could have surprised him

more, it was like Yohji asking Asuka who she was. It was just

ridiculous. However, Aya didn't seem to think so. He looked

extremely serious. His features had softened, his eyes looked puffed

and red with all the crying he had been doing. He was looking at

Yohji with a kind of awe and wonder making Yohji nervous. Maybe Aya

was mad at him and was making him suffer this way, but the more

reasonable part of his mind knew it was a lie. If Aya was mad, he

would ignore him, maybe chase him with the katana and try to kill

him,

but he wouldn't act like this. Now more that never he wished Ken or

Omi were there to help him.

" I am Yohji, your friend," said Yohji feeling a little silly because

he was talking to Aya like a child. " I was coming to check on you

because Ken said you were sick."

"Ken?" asked Aya innocently and started to get up. He walked past

Yohji and Yohji saw that the item Aya had been struggling with was a

shoe. He had been trying to tie it and had done a poor job at it.

Then he thought maybe he should call a doctor so he could see what

the

hell was going on. Then he noticed Aya was looking at him with a

small smile on his lips.

" I am Ran and I am five years old, nice to meet you sir," said Ran

bowing in front of Yohji.

" Holy shit," said Yohji who was staring at him like he had seen a

ghost. A minute later he ran out the door. Aya just stared at him

from the stairs wondering what had just happened.

Yohji thought he needed some air so he decided to take a walk and try

to clear his head. He felt a little better after a while and

searched

his pockets looking for a cigarette. He hadn't paid any attention to

where he was going and when he did he noticed he was in a park. He

sat at a bench, slowly lifting his arm to put the cigarette in his

lips and take a long drag. He held the smoke in letting it out very

slowly. He remembered how Aya had looked, so innocent and

vulnerable.

He looked lost. And had treated him like a complete stranger. That

was the worst part of it all, that Aya hadn't recognized him. He

acted like a totally different person. That made Yohji pause

remembering from his days as a PI one of his cases. He remembered

this kid who had killed his sister but did not remember doing the

act.

It had been in all the news because of the kind of brutality

involved, the boy around fifteen or sixteen years of age had gotten a

kitchen knife and attacked his sister while she slept. The weirdest

part was that the boy loved his sister very much and no one could

believe he could have done it, but after a psychiatric evaluation the

doctor had said that he suffered from MPD (Multiple personality

Disorder) and that one of his personalities was extremely jealous of

the sister. Oh, God. Oh, no. Yohji hoped he was wrong. But one of

the reasons this disorder developed was the inability to cope with

trauma. A personality was developed as a defense. Because the

person

could not deal with the world around him, he or she developed a

personality to take the person's place when he couldn't cope. This

was common with children that were molested, or people that had

witnessed something horrible, or been in an accident. Aya fit in two

of the three. Could it have been that the awakening of his sister

triggered something? People could go on living most of their lives

not

knowing that they had MPD. It was usually suppressed and was

triggered by something that happened. Could Aya have had it all this

time with none of us noticing? Maybe, most likely. But then that

made

Aya dangerous. What if he had an aggressive side to him. Most MPD

patients did. Aya had said his name was Ran. Then that meant, that

Aya had a personality of himself as a small kid. Before everything

happened. But why now? Aya had seemed fine last night, well take

that

back. No he didn't. he had to first figure out if he was right, and

he hoped to the gods that he wasn't.

When he returned to their home Ken and Omi were there preparing

dinner.

" Ohayo Yohji-kun!" said Omi beaming.

" How did the test go kiddo?" asked Yohji putting up his best smile.

" You know he aced it," said Ken smiling. " Oi Yohji where were you?

I thought I told you to check up on Aya."

"I---I did, but I got bored and while he was sleeping went to take a

walk." said Yohji hoping nobody noticed his nervousness.

"Right," said Ken sarcastically, " I bet you went on one of your

dates."

"Ken. . ." said Omi, " If Yohji-kun says he went for a walk you

should

believe him."

"Hey, not my fault I don't trust him," said Ken while he was stirring

some tomato sauce.

"Jerk" said Yohji fishing for another cigarrete.

" Hey, hey not in the house," said Ken, " besides Aya is on a bitchy

mood so I wouldn't smoke near him if I were you."

" How. . . how is he?" asked Yohji trying to sound casual.

"Well I found him in the kitchen looking for some aspirin" said Omi,

"

I arrived before Ken so I helped Aya to get some medication. He

looked really sick though, maybe we should take him to a doctor."

" Like that is going to happen, hey Omi check on the sauce while I go

check up on Mr. Stone upstairs."

"Ken-kun, you shouldn't say that," said Omi with disapproval.

" He deserves it. Besides I shouldn't even go Yohji should go and

check up on him," said Ken folding his arms across his chest.

" Do I look like I like to be used as target practice?" asked while

Yohji sitting down on the table." Nope, we will wait for you right

here." He said this smiling slyly

" Fuck you" said Ken climbing the stairs furiously.

Yohji just sat there watching Omi go around the kitchen chopping

onions and checking up on the pasta.

"What's for dinner?" asked Yohji

" Pasta," said Omi trying not to smile at how illogical that question

was. Omi and Yohji turned towards the kitchen door when they heard

Ken talking to Aya before entering the kitchen.

"Aya-kun you shouldn't be out of bed!" said Omi disapproving of Aya's

behavior.

"Hn" said Aya while he searched the fridge for something to drink.

"That is what I was telling him but he is a stubborn bastard," said

Ken raking a hand through his hair to get the hair out of his eyes.

Yohji wasn't even listening to either of them, he was watching Aya.

He seemed just fine, same old Aya. It was too weird for him and he

knew he would have to tell Ken and Omi. But he would wait, maybe it

was just a one time thing and it would not happen again. Maybe.

Aya sat down at the table and just stared at the food Omi placed in

front of him. It looked good but his stomach didn't want it. Ken,

Omi, and Yohji were watching him. Aya knew he would have to eat if

he

didn't want them to worry anymore.

" Is everything okay?" asked Yohji, while putting some pasta in his

mouth.

"Y-yes, am okay," said Aya picking up his fork and suddenly the pasta

was no longer food but parts of a body. Blood and pieces of flesh.

"Oh, God," said Aya under his breath and left the table in a hurry

for

the bathroom while he felt the bile rising in his throat.
