Aya gets a taste at parenthood...
Chapter 2: "Momma Aya"
The next night another mission, so much like the rest yet so
different. Yohji and Aya paired up to investigate a building where
they're may have ben possible drug dealing.
"Weee this is exciting." Yohji thought to himself. He let out a sigh
and rolled his eyes.
"Bored?" The red-head raised an eyebrow. Yohji grinned mysteriously
and walked ahead. He could think of plenty things to do but they
involved Aya and something he didn't have at the moment.
"Aya, check downstairs. I'm gonna have a look up there." Yohji
pointed to the old wooden staircase.
"Aa." Aya nodded and began his descent. It wasn't to far down when he
heard the sound of a child crying. He cocked his head to the side and
continued slowly, noiselessly. The sound, he had determined was
coming from a small room just to the right of the stairs. Aya pulled
out his Katana and carefully pushed the door open a crack large
enough to get a good enough view of he dark room. When his eyes had
adjusted enough, he could make out a small boy around the age of five
crying in the corner of the room. He reached over and flicked the
light switch on.
"D-don't hurt me..." The little boy cried, burying his face into his
knees. He was beaten up a little with a few scars on his small arms.
Aya was speechless. He walked over to the boy and bent down in front
of him. The boy had bright orange hair and beautiful blue eyes. Aya
thought that he looked a bit like himself when he was young.
"I'm not going to hurt you...I'm here to help" Aya whispered. He
always had a weak spot for children. The boy stopped crying for a
moment and studied Aya.
"I wanna go home...Take me home!" The child threw himself into Aya's
arms and wrapped his tiny arms around Aya's neck.
"Ano..." Aya's mind raced. He wasn't sure how to handle this. He
gently placed a hand on the small of the child's back.
"W-what is your name?" The red-head asked into the boy's shoulder.
"I don't know." He sniffled
"Where are your parents?"
"They died."
"Why are you here?"
"Because no one wanted me."
Aya felt his heart break. He couldn't understand this at all, not
wanting a child. Aya himself had often thought he might want children
someday.
"Its going to be ok, I'll get you out of here." Aya picked him up
gently when he realized how thin he really was.
"You need a name." Aya said thoughtfully. "How does Ran sound?"
"Ok." The boy half-smiled loving the attention Aya gave him. The
younger man smiled back when Ran hugged him tightly.
"Oi Aya?" Yohji called from the top of the stairs."Find anything?"
"Hai." The red-head started up the stairs. Yohji's eyes got wide.
"A kid? Here?" The older man stood to the side to let Aya pass.
"His parents are dead. He has no family."
"How sad..." Yohji brushed a hand through Ran's hair. "Just like
us..." They walked out to the car in silence. Ran had fallen asleep
on Aya's shoulder.
"What do you want to do?" Yohji asked when he was sure Ran was asleep.
"I'll take care of him." Aya stated firmly. Even in the short amount
of time he'd grown attached to this boy, deep in his heart he wanted
to take him home.
"Thats sounds great." Yohji smiled. The younger Weiß member was
starting to act more like a human being everyday. Yohji could see the
love Aya felt towards this boy but unfortunately he couldn't see the
love that Aya felt for him and how much that kiss really ment.
The car ride home was a quiet one, neither knew what to say. Aya had
this nagging feeling that he shouldn't have broken down and taken the
boy home.
"Yohji. What have I done? I can't take care of a child..." Aya
whispered wanting to hear words of comfort from his partner's mouth
again.
"I told you. Theres nothing to worry about. We're all friends right?
You won't be doing this alone." Yohji paused for a moment to let his
words sink in.
"Besides, now Omi can stop complaining about being the youngest."
Seeing Yohji smile put Aya's mind at ease. Ran stirred in his lap,
and Aya pressed his lips to the young boys forehead and closed his
eyes.
Aya woke up to the gentle sound of Yohji's voice. He blinked a couple
times then realized that they here parked outside the Koneko. Yohji
opened his door and pulled out the keys.
"Momma..." Ran clutched at the front of Aya's heavy coat. Yohji
chuckled.
"He called you Momma." Yohji commented, ruffling Aya's Hair. The red-
head glared at Yohji. Then turned to Ran.
"We're home, Ran." Aya whispered into the boy's delicate ear.
"He must be starved, It looks like he hasn't eaten in days." Aya
looked at Yohji when they'd entered the hall.
"I'll tell you what, let me go make something for dinner, you can
clean him up and by the time your done, it'll be time to eat." Yohji
clicked on the lights to the kitchen, there was a note on the table.
"Oi. It looks like Omi and Ken went out for the evening." Yohji took
off his gloves and coat.
"I'm gonna get changed first." He said stretching out his slender
body, his finely toned stomach showing from his short crop top and
low cut pants. Aya turned away and blushed. The incident from last
night still fresh in his mind.
"Yohji you don't have to do anything, this isn't your problem." Aya
spoke, his head still turned. Ran looked at Yohji with his bright
blue eyes and smiled.
"I don't mind, really." Yohji ran his finger down Ran's tiny upturned
nose.
"Can I hold him?" Yohji's next question caught Aya off guard, but he
nodded.
"O-of course you can." He held out Ran to Yohji, but the small boy
let out a cry when he felt Aya's hand leave him.
"Momma Aya! Momma Aya!" He cried over and over, while Yohji rocked
him gently trying to soothe him but with no luck. Aya reached out and
let Ran crawl back into his arms.
"Yohji I'm sorry." The red-head shook his head.
"Its not your fault. He'll come around eventually." Yohji smiled
reassuringly and walked past him patting his shoulder. Aya stood for
a moment until the heat from Yohji's hand had disappeared. He let out
a sigh and walked upstairs to his room and set ran down on the bed.
Ran looked around the room then curled up on the end of the bed
watching his new momma while he got dressed. After slipping on his
favorite sweater he knelt down at the end of the bed.
"Whats the matter Ran?" Aya murmured stroking the boy's tangled hair.
"I'm tired..." Ran cried.
"It's almost bedtime okay? Lets get you cleaned up then some dinner."
Aya lifted Ran into his arms and swung him around in a small circle.
Ran let out a few giggles. They stepped out into the hall closet. Aya
opened a box of old clothes that they had been planning to get rid
of. He pulled out a small light blue T-shirt that had belonged to Omi
and brought it into the bathroom with him.
"Its bath time ok?" Aya closed the door behind him and turned on the
heater, water and setting Ran on the ground he carefully removing his
baby's worn out clothes.
"Your not to badly beat up." Aya commented, running his fingers over
the boy's stomach. Remembering how he used to take care of his little
sister.
"That tickles momma Aya!" Ran giggled. Aya lifted him up and kissed
his cheeks. On his way to setting Ran into the bath, he knocked over
an open bottle of bubble bath that belonged to Omi.
"Oh dear..." He muttered picking the half empty bottle out of the
water. Ran's eyes got wide.
"What are those?" He exclaimed excitedly pointing at the water.
"Bubbles." Aya breathed softly, lowering Ran into the now full bath.
A look of fear came over Ran's face.
"Momma..." He cried, grabbing on to Aya's hand.
"Shhh Ran, its ok. It can't hurt you." The red-head scooped up a
handful and held it out to the child his features soft and a small
smile on his lips. And then Ran sneezed. The bubbles in Aya's hand
now collected down the front of his shirt. This sent Ran into another
fit of giggles. Aya just smiled and turned off the water. He felt an
overwhelming amount of love growing in his chest as he watched Ran
laughing and playing with the bubbles.
A little while later, in the other part of the house Yohji was
cooking dinner. He set down the spoon he was stirring with and began
to walk up the stairs to the bathroom. As he got closer he could hear
Aya's soft voice talking to Ran. He knocked a couple times on the
door.
"Hai..." Was Aya's soft reply. Yohji opened the door. Aya had Ran
wrapped up in a towel while he towel dried his hair.
"Dinner's almost ready." Yohji smiled. Ran got up from his place in
Aya's lap and cautiously walked over to Yohji still bundled in his
towel. The lanky blond sat cross legged and let Ran walk over to him.
"Hey there..." Yohji smiled as Ran crawled into his lap and sat
looking up. "What an adorable face..." Yohji smiled looking into the
boy's eyes.
"Papa Yohji?" Ran questioned tugging at the long strands of hair
hanging in the older assassins's face.
"N-no kiddo, I'm just Yohji." The older Weiß member brought an arm
around Ran's waist. Aya watched amazed at the gentleness Yohji was
showing. It just wasn't his attitude, but now, face to face with a
small child Yohji was acting like an adult.
"O-k." Ran said, a little disappointed. Downstairs, the timer went
off.
"Dinner's ready, you two." Yohji stood up when Ran went toddling back
to Aya.
"Thank you..." Aya answered sincerely. He hadn't realized it but he
was blushing. Aya touched his cheeks a look of confusion crossed his
face.
"What is wrong with me?" He said to himself. Then he remembered Yohji
hadn't gone on a date tonight. Ran reached up and touched Aya's face.
"Momma Aya...Why you sad?" Ran brushed his fingers over Aya's lips.
The red-head smiled and kissed his baby's delicate fingers then
pulled Ran into his arms.
"He's so small, I've never seen anyone so tiny in my life..." Aya
thought to himself.
"Don't be sad Momma...:
"I'm not sad, I'll never be sad as long as your here, Ran." Aya
cradled the boy in his arms when Ran's stomach growled.
"Lets fill your tummy."
Yohji heard the footsteps come down the stairs. He turned in time to
see Aya carefully guiding Ran down the stairs, hand in hand. It was
that moment that Yohji looked at Aya and saw something he'd never
seen before in the younger mans eyes. It was like a mixture of love
and gentleness. It was like looking at a whole new Aya. Yohji's heart
skipped a couple beats as Aya approached him.
"It smells good, right Ran?" Aya smiled and lifted the child onto his
arms. Yohji looked into Aya's eyes, He could see the tears begin to
well up.
"A-Aya..." Yohji opened his arms and let Aya snuggle in with Ran. The
red-head was sobbing softly, which caused Ran to begin crying.
"Momma Aya don't cry!" Ran sobbed tugging at his collar. Yohji
cradled the both of them.
"Yohji I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. It's been such a long day and and .."
His voice trailed off.
"No need to appologise. I understand what your going through,
everyone needs to cry sometimes remember that. This is new for you,
raising a child. Its ok, really." Yohji pulled Aya back a little and
wiped the tears from his eyes.
"I don't regret taking Ran home. I never thought I could love anyone
again."Aya smiled at Ran who brightened immediately.
"C'mon the soup is getting cold." Yohji motioned to the table and
brought a pot of soup over and filled the 3 bowls on the tables. Ran
who was sitting on Aya's lap, tried to feed himself but ended up
spilling it on the table.
"Oh Ran..." Aya spoke affectionately and looked around.
"Sit him here and then you can reach." Yohji patted his lap. Aya
nodded and sat Ran down. Yohji wrapped one arm around the boy's waist
to secure him. Aya fed him spoonful's of soup in the comfortable
silence. It wasn't until Ran had finished 3 bowls and yawned that Aya
took him back into his arms and rocked him to sleep. Both men could
finally eat dinner.
"Yohji..." Aya asked after a moment of silence.
"Aa." Yohji replied mouth full.
"Didn't you have plans tonight?"
"Nope." Yohji shook his head.
"You haven't gone out in a while...I hope its not because of me."
"I'd rather spend time with you then at a bar or a date. I'm tired of
being the one night stand for every girl...everyone that walks into
the Koneko. I want to settle down." Yohji ran a hand through his wavy
hair and smiled. Aya nodded. He was well aware that Yohji had had
male dates occasionally. He often wondered if Yohji found him
attractive, for he himself couldn't see the beauty in his looks, it
made him feel very self-conscious.
"I'm glad. Sometimes...I-I get worried about you when you don't come
home at night. I think maybe something awful might have happened to
you." Aya was definitely showing a different side to him.
"Aya, you don't have to worry about that any more. Hey, I have an
idea. Let's go shopping tomorrow and pick up some stuff for Ran."
Yohji picked up their empty bowls. Aya was so happy. Ever since the
kiss on the roof he found himself wanting to be near Yohji more, he
found himself wondering if the kiss meant anything at all to his long-
haired friend. Yohji just smiled at him.
"Go to bed Aya, you look exhausted." Yohji ordered playfully.
"Hai." He smiled softly and started up the stairs.
"Goodnight." He called down.
"Goodnight, Aya."
Aya gratefully climbed into bed after changing into his pajama's and
protectivly snuggled Ran into his arms.
"I love you." Aya whispered, the words sounding foreign but somehow
seemed right. Aya quickly fell asleep listening to the rhythmic
beating of the child's heart.
