This page is devoted to the arcade Bomberman-style game XBlast. You can download some new levels we have created, and visit related pages in our Links section. Send us a mail for any questions.
What is XBlast ?
XBlast is an arcade game for X11 R5/R6, created by Oliver Vogel and Garth Denley. This game can be played with at least 2 players and up to 6 players. There are more than 100 levels in the 2.6.1 version, but it is very simple to add new levels.
LoriaBlasters
We are 8 players:
- "F12" Nonal: simply the best among us... Has a special "F12" key which allows him to win even in desparate situations.
- Jeannot MoulMan: very very lucky. His names: "Fat Viscous and Permanent", "Demeco", etc. Also very psychologist: when he wins a level with 2 or 3 lifes left, he commits suicide to be sure you understand you had NO chance to win...
- Le Grisvard: you know the "Act like a Grisvard" strategy (hiding in a corner, waiting for the others to die) ? He's the official inventor of this strategy. His names: "The prez", "Aggressive Prez", "Doudou", etc.
- Pierral: specialist of the "I kill you in your back while you try to blast other people" strategy. When he loses a level, he is very good, but perhaps a little tired. The man with bad luck ;-). His names: "Grouillotte", "Pierrot la fiotte", "Premier d'la classe", "The nerd"...
- CriCri: permanent uncertainty. Can be as good as Nonal one day, and play like a Foizel another. You can meet him as "Ursulla", "CriCri", "Mon Kiki", etc.
- La Vieille merde: he has all defaults of the other players, but can't stand being killed using the dirty tricks he loves to do. He hates Grisvard because he "acts like a Grisvard", but spends half the time to hide himself in corners. His names: "La vieille merde" (old shit), "Willy le bourdon", "Le gourdin", "Gaston", etc.
- Le Gars responsable: knows all strategies (he has read them on the net), but has lot of problems applying them. Usually tries to abort when he has less lifes than the other players. Called "Télé 7 Jours", "Strategy Man", "Mister Fair-Play", etc.
- Le Foizel: the man who has time. He is shrinked in every level, although he was sure not to. But he can be good some days, so be carefull.
Our 45 new levels
These levels have been generated using the java application created by Tobias Johansson. For each level, there is a page where you can download the "C" code to add and see the options of the level. If you think these levels are f***ing good, we can give you an address at which you could send us a bottle of your country local alcohol.

You can also download all these levels in a single zipped file (42Ko).
Adding new levels
Once the include files (.h) downloaded, you have to build XBlast again.
- Copy the .h files in $xblasthome/level directory ($xblasthome is the main Xblast directory) ;
- Edit file data.c (in the main Xblast directory):
- Add include commands juste before the first #include.
For instance: #include "level/TreasonGravity.h"
- Add these new levels pointers in BMLevelData *internal_maze_data[] structure (it is usually placed after the include commands).
For instance: &TreasonGravity,
- Just type make in the main directory to build a new XBlast.
